I spent most of the day working today and felt quite accomplished. Today, when I left home, I made sure to take my camera with me… but I did not see anything worth photographing. I ran to the gas station to pump up and as I was pumping, I had this unsettling sensation that I someone was watching me. I turned my head and BAM! This little critter is just ogling me with an expression on his face that said “Whatcha Doin?” Ladies and gentlemen, meet Moe the Moth. =)

Day 15 - Little Mr. Lincoln

Device: Nikon D3100
Lens: VR VR 55-200mm F/4-5.6G (+17 macro filter)
Focal Length: 55mm
Aperture: F/22
Shutter Speed: 1 sec
ISO Sensitivity: ISO 100
Location: Austin, Texas

Today I slept in very late – and it felt good. It is so nice not having to wake up early for anything. I had this vontade, this urge to take a picture of something really small that most people miss. I took some pictures of small flowers, an apple up-close, and some critters outside, none of which made the cut. Finally, I remembered Little Mr. Lincoln, and wondered how many of you were aware of his presence and had actually seen him on the reverse side of a penny. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Little Mr. Lincoln on his grandiose cathedra.

Day 10 - M

Device: Nikon D3100
Lens: VR 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6G (additional +17 macro lens)
Focal Length: 26mm
Aperture: F/5.6
Shutter Speed: 1/4 sec
ISO Sensitivity: ISO 400
Editing SW: LR3
Location: Austin, Texas

I felt like a little kid today. I had ordered some accessories over a week ago and they were due to arrive today. I opened up the packages and there they were – my new wide-angle lens, my fish eye lens, and some macro filter lens. So, to continue with the analogy, I setup my new toys and started playing with them right away. It took me awhile to figure out that after a certain magnification the focus ring no longer works and that you have to physically move the camera forwards/backwards until you focus on the correct plane. Yummy! Who wants candy?
